China stuns to win curling final at Paralympic Winter Games

China defeated Norway 6-5 in the wheelchair curling final and claimed its first-ever Paralympic Winter Games title at the Gangneung Curling Center on Saturday afternoon.
China, fourth place finisher in Sochi, and Norway had a see-saw game that ended 5-5 after eight ends. China stunned its opponents, the 2017 world championship gold medalists, in the tiebreaker by one point to win the gold medal at the Pyeongchang Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
"It's a tough game, and our athletes withstood the pressure," said Yue Qingshuang, head coach of Team China.
China beat Norway 10-1 in the round robin session on Sunday. Even though his team lost to China again, Norway's skip, or captain, Rune Lorentsen, said he was happy to bring back the first medal in wheelchair curling for Norway. "I have to say, I think we played a good final," he said.
Canada defeated host South Korea 5-3, winning a bronze medal early in the morning.
