World's top 5 most innovative companies

Tencent Holdings Ltd has reached the top five on the list of the World's 50 Most Innovative Companies for 2018, which tracks companies' performance in business innovation based on the importance it attaches to content.

The Shenzhen-based tech giant grabbed the fourth spot for how its nearly 1-billion users could generate the colossal content being built around its WeChat app, according to the annual global list released by Fast Company, a New York-based media agency.

The ranking, which began in 2008, also saw three other Chinese firms as first-time honorees, including Beijing Bytedance Technology Co Ltd, a news aggregator operator; VIPKid, an online education provider and DJI, a drone maker.
