CAS holds conference on AI and components

A conference on artificial intelligence and reliability of components was held on Friday in Beijing by the Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The event was organized by Cissdata, a high-tech enterprise under the academy, and the co-organizers included the National Space Science Center, the Institute of Microsatellite Innovation— both affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Reliability Engineering of Beihang University, etc.
The conference, widely regarded as an influential event in the field of intelligent manufacturing of equipment and construction of intelligent institutes, was attended by a number of top experts and enterprise executives, together with more than 300 invited guests.
Gao Ming, an academician of the International Academy of Astronautics and director of the Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization, delivered an opening speech at the conference.
She said components represented by chip and integrated circuits are the foundation and the core parts of many national strategic equipment. Reliable and autonomous control of the equipment in key industries, such as the advanced manned spaceflight and national defense, relies on the innovation and reliability of the components.
"Accelerating the development of the new generation of artificial intelligence is an important strategic support for China to occupy a leading place in global science and technology competition," said Gao.
According to Dang Wei, CEO of Cissdata and one of the initiators of the event, the main purpose of the conference is to set up an exchange platform for industry players to "promote the intelligent improvement of component management in model engineering" and "enhance system reliability with intelligent means", thus to facilitate the intelligent development of space science and scientific application.
Many of his company's employees used to be important members of China's manned spaceflight projects and have learned, through their personal use of some components, the industry's urgent need to enhance artificial intelligence and informationization, Dang added.
The one-day conference included themed speeches, roundtable discussions, onsite demonstrations of technological products and exchanges between industry players.
The attending representatives shared their opinions on topics such as "Made in China 2025 and intelligent, reliable engineering ", "intelligent manufacturing practice and artificial intelligence".
