China hopes DPRK-US will continue to hold talks

Beijing said on Thursday it hopes dialogue between Pyongyang and Washington will continue after the two sides failed to reach an agreement at their summit in Vietnam.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang told a regular news briefing China hopes the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States will respect each other's concerns and continue to show sincerity to promote the denuclearization and establishment of a peace mechanism on the peninsula.
The situation in the Korean Peninsula has undergone a major turnaround over the past year, and the nuclear issue has been brought back to the right track — a political solution, he said, calling upon relevant parties to cherish the hard-won achievement.
Dialogue and negotiation are the only way out, he said, adding China is willing to continue to play a constructive role.
