FAW-Volkswagen puts latest models on show

"This year, FAW-Volkswagen is marching into the SUV market with a strong product lineup. They will carry on the task of brand rejuvenation and lead the new SUV trend in China with more prominent and more vigorous models."
Jahn said FAW-Volkswagen will strive to cover the market by offering SUV models of different sizes from the subcompact to mid-to-large ones within the coming two years.
This year, the carmaker will launch a subcompact SUV based on the T-Cross model in Europe. It held the premiere of its first Coupe SUV and a mid-large SUV just days ago in Shanghai.
"The more diverse product lineup is going to fully meet the diverse and individualized needs of Chinese customers," Jahn said.
He said the fast speed of launching new models is based on the company's insight and represents the carmaker's determination and confidence in the SUV segment.
"SUVs' sale growth is really strong, and we believe the market will a reach a balance, roughly 50-50, between SUVs and sedans, by around 2021," Jahn said.
Last year, SUV sales totaled 9.99 million in China, around 43 percent of the country's passenger car sales, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
FAW-Volkswagen unveiled its first SUV T-Roc in 2018, which was followed by the mid-sized Tayron in the same year.
