Business leaders weigh in on Shanghai's development at IBLAC


Kobayashi Ken, chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation, suggested that efforts need to be strengthened toward promoting "industries that protect lives and health". These include industries directly related to health, such as medical care and medicine, sanitation, healthcare, nursing and foodstuffs, as well as supporting industries such as education, logistics and distribution, renewable energy and recycling.
Paul Manduca, chairman of Prudential Plc, suggested that Shanghai build sustainable savings and pensions systems that would allow people to rebuild their finances which were affected by the pandemic and protect themselves for the future.
In the realm of scientific research and education, Vincent Lo Hong-shui, chairman of Shui On Land, said that Shanghai should become a magnet to attract top global talents. This is achievable through creating an amicable and open academic atmosphere and raising the quality of domestic education to the world's highest level, he said.
