Money talks as Chengdu firms up hub credentials

Air economy
As a city with two major airports — Shuangliu International Airport and Tianfu International Airport — Chengdu is striving to create a new type of business environment. The International Airport Economic Zone has been entrusted with the task of enhancing Chengdu's position and value distribution capability in the global industrial network, as well as strengthening its functions as an international gateway hub.
The zone consists of the Shuangliu area and the new district in eastern Chengdu. The Shuangliu area has a planned total area of 4.98 square kilometers, and the goal is to surpass 20 billion yuan in the aviation industry scale by 2025.
Currently, the Shuangliu area has gathered three major anchor companies — Airbus, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China and SF Express — as well as 26 projects and four functional platforms.
On April 26, an aircraft life-cycle service center of Airbus was established in the area. Airbus, Tarmac Aerosave and Aerotropolis Xingcheng Group have joined forces to establish the first joint venture company in China for aircraft full life-cycle services.
