Case collection of the State Grid leading sustainable development in Jiangsu released during COP29


On Nov 20, at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company Ltd released a collection of sustainable development cases titled "Accelerating Energy Transformation and Contributing to Climate Action", demonstrating China's practical achievements in promoting green, low-carbon transformation and sustainable development.
As a key enterprise in the energy sector in Jiangsu and the largest provincial company of the State Grid, the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company has bravely taken the lead in working towards the "dual carbon" goals. It has accelerated the construction of local new power systems and made vigorous efforts to boost China's energy revolution. The case collection released at COP29 gathers ten innovative achievements of the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company in the field of sustainable development, energy supply, power grid construction, new energy development, energy conservation and emission reduction, etc. Through detailed data and interpretations of construction paths, it showcases in a concentrated manner Jiangsu's explorations in accelerating the construction of new energy systems and new power systems, as well as in empowering the low-carbon development of industries, the rural energy revolution, and energy conservation and carbon reduction on the consumption side.
In recent years, with the rapid development of distributed new energy, micro grids have played an increasingly important role in China's energy landscape. The case collection, titled "Transforming Disorder into Order and Building a Friendly Interactive Ecology between Micro grids and the Main Power Grid" relies on optimizing the operation strategies and control technologies of micro grids to achieve friendly interaction between micro grids and the main power grid, thus improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the energy system. The case "Creating e-Park and Exploring a Win-Win Multi-Party Vehicle-to-Grid Interactive Operation Model" breaks down the barriers between electric vehicles and the power grid and promotes the consumption and utilization of clean energy.
Building green and low-carbon cities is at the forefront of alleviating the problem of global warming and promoting the coordinated development of the economy, society and the environment. Based on urban buildings, the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company has innovated the "River Water Air Conditioning: Solving the Problem of Energy Conservation and Consumption Reduction in Buildings in Cities along the River". It uses river water as a natural cold source and harnesses heat pump technology to provide cooling and heating for buildings, effectively reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. Based on islands, it promotes "Intelligent Micro grids to Realize the Green and Low-Carbon Transformation of Island Energy", providing cleaner and more reliable energy supplies for islands.
Low-carbon economy and low-carbon technologies have drawn great attention from countries all over the world. The State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company has introduced new energy technologies such as wind power and photovoltaic power, and has been "exploring the 'wind and solar' path for the low-carbon development of the cement industry", providing low-carbon energy solutions for the cement industry. To reduce carbon emissions from shipping and promote the green transformation of inland waterway shipping, new shore power facilities have been developed to replace traditional diesel generators, achieving "Inland River Shore Power Wharves: Letting Clean Electric Energy Flow into the Capillaries of Wuxi Waters".
