Collaboration is essential for innovation in fast-moving tech sectors like electric vehicles, as boundaries between sectors are becoming more fluid, said Kang Bo, vice-president of Chinese NEV maker Seres.

"By sharing resources and expertise, companies can create smarter and more advanced products," said Kang ahead of the World Economic Forum's 2025 Annual Meeting, which kicked off on Monday in Davos, Switzerland.

The theme of the event is "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age", with the agenda focusing on five key areas: reimagining growth, industries in the intelligent age, investing in people, safeguarding the planet, and rebuilding trust.

Kang said Seres has built partnerships with global automotive suppliers and leading technology companies. It also shares its powertrain technology with 12 partners worldwide.

"In short, we have reaped major benefits from a collaborative approach and fully support 'collaboration for the intelligent age'," said Kang.

Seres ended 2024 on a high note, reporting NEV sales of over 420,000 units for the year — a remarkable 182.84 percent year-on-year increase.

Kang said innovative technology is key to a company's survival and growth, so Seres has integrated the latest technology into its intelligent manufacturing processes.

"Thanks to our leading intelligent manufacturing capabilities and quality control expertise, we're able to provide our customers with high-quality products," he said.

Speaking of China's NEV industry, Kang explained that it has gained a competitive edge through sustained investment and cross-border collaboration, leading to advanced products, technologies, competitive costs, and overall intelligence.

Over 12.87 million NEVs were sold in China last year, up 35.5 percent year-on-year, according to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
