Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday started his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, with the country’s Minister of State, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, welcoming the Georgian delegation at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Kobakhidze is set to meet with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, and Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, the country’s Minister of Tolerance, the Government Administration said.
As part of his visit, the PM will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with Emaar, one of the largest development companies, enabling a multi-billion dollar investment to be made in Georgia.
The head of the Government will also meet with the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and its logistics division, the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, which is actively involved in the development of the Middle Corridor, a logistics route connecting Central Asia and China to Europe via the South Caucasus through Georgia.
The company is also implementing the Tbilisi dry port project, an initiative involving the construction of a multimodal inland terminal to serve rail and road container shipments, set to be completed this year, with plans to further expand cooperation in strategic, logistical, and transport projects.
The Georgian delegation to Abu Dhabi includes Levan Davitashvili, the First Vice Prime Minister and Economy Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, the Foreign Minister, and Kakha Kaladze, the Tbilisi Mayor, as well as Tornike Rizhvadze, the Chair of the Adjara Regional Government, and Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Government Administration.
