Ukraine says ready for 30-day ceasefire

KYIV - Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the US proposal for an immediate interim 30-day ceasefire, according to the joint statement issued by the Ukrainian and US delegations following their meeting in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
The ceasefire, which is also due to be accepted by Russia simultaneously, could be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, said the statement published on the Ukrainian presidential website.
It also noted that the United States would immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.
During the talks, the US and Ukrainian teams also discussed humanitarian efforts during a possible ceasefire, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of civilian detainees, and the return of Ukrainian children from Russia.
The delegations agreed to appoint their negotiating teams and begin negotiations toward an enduring peace.
The statement also mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump had agreed to conclude a mineral resources deal between their countries as soon as possible.
