Inspections key for ecological, disciplinary progress

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, chaired a leadership meeting on Monday to review a set of regulations on ecological and environmental protection inspection.
The meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee also reviewed a report on the fourth round of disciplinary inspection launched by the 20th CPC Central Committee.
It was noted at the meeting that inspection of ecological and environmental protection work is a major initiative of the CPC Central Committee to advance ecological civilization.
Through such inspections, a number of major cases involving ecological and environmental damage have been dealt with, and a series of prominent environmental problems that concern the public have been addressed, according to a statement released after the meeting.
Efforts should be made to uphold and strengthen the Party's leadership over environmental protection inspections, continue leveraging the role of inspections as a powerful tool, and further hold localities and departments accountable for their obligations to advance the building of a Beautiful China.
It was stressed at the meeting that it is important to have the courage to tackle tough issues, persistently uncover and earnestly address problems, and enhance the effectiveness of implementing the CPC Central Committee's decisions and plans on ecological civilization.
Since the 20th CPC National Congress in 2022, the CPC Central Committee has conducted four rounds of disciplinary inspections.
The meeting's participants said that some problems had been uncovered by inspection teams that went to central Party and State institutions, stressing the need to seriously rectify these problems.
Noting that the year 2025 is pivotal for expanding disciplinary inspections to cover all areas, the meeting said the focus must be placed on the implementation of the CPC Central Committee's decisions and plans to provide strong guarantees for advancing Chinese modernization.
