Shanghai expands global reach with more intl flights

Shanghai's airports are set to enhance international connectivity under the newly implemented summer-autumn flight schedule, offering travelers more destinations and increasing the frequency of flights along key global routes.
Under the new schedule, which took effect on March 30, Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport now handle a total of 588 international flights daily, a year-on-year increase of 4 percent.
According to the new flight schedule, the Pudong airport, which mainly handles international flights, will introduce three new international routes, including flights to Geneva in Switzerland, Shymkent in Kazakhstan and Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.
Additionally, the frequency of flights on high-demand routes such as those flying to Los Angeles, London, and Cairo will be increased.
Pudong airport now operates at least one daily flight on 24 major intercontinental routes, including destinations in the US such as Los Angeles, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, and Detroit, as well as European cities like Frankfurt, Paris, London, Rome, and Milan.
The expansion solidifies Shanghai's role as a premier international aviation hub, linking travelers to 97 overseas destinations, including 40 intercontinental destinations.
