Li Luogong is an important explorer of 20th-century Chinese art, whose ventures in oil, calligraphy and seals ushered tradition into modernity. Behind his work was his determination to change.
Now, examples of his work is on display at The Powerful Influence of Writing Surpasses the Physical Boundaries, an exhibition that presents an overview of Li's artistic endeavors over the decades.
He began his artistic pursuits at the Shanghai Art School, then headed by Liu Haisu, a pivotal artist and educator, where he was trained by a group of renowned painters, some of who had studied in Europe and Japan.
