China warns of resolute countermeasures amid US tariff numbers game

After the White House website claim that imports from China to the US face tariffs of up to 245 percent, the Foreign Ministry warned on Thursday that China will pay no attention to the US' further tariff numbers game, and it will take resolute countermeasures and fight to the end if Washington persists in substantially infringing on China's rights and interests.
A latest fact sheet page on the website on Tuesday said, "China now faces up to a 245% tariff on imports to the United States as a result of its retaliatory actions".
In response, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a brief statement on Thursday, "We have noticed the relevant reports. Regarding how the number of 245 percent was arrived at, you should ask the US side."
"China has previously underscored that the US' rounds of imposing disproportional, high tariffs on China have become a numbers game, which is no longer significant in an economic context, and will only further expose the US' tactics of instrumentalizing and weaponizing tariffs and engaging in bullying and coercion," the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson stated that there are no winners in tariff wars and trade wars, and that "China is unwilling to fight, but is not afraid to do so".
"If the US continues to play the tariff numbers game, China will pay no attention to it," the spokesperson said. "If the US persists in continuing to substantially infringe on China's rights and interests, China will make resolute countermeasures and fight to the end".
