Nguyen Hong Nhu, a Vietnamese businesswoman based in Yiwu county-level city, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has recently been busy with a stream of orders from Vietnamese clients, Tide News reported on April 15.
Yiwu and Vietnam have fostered robust cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, deepening economic, trade, and cultural ties. Yiwu Customs data reveals that in 2024, trade between Yiwu and Vietnam hit 7.62 billion yuan ($1.04 billion), a 30.1 percent increase year-on-year. By February of this year, trade had already reached 1.53 billion yuan, up 28.8 percent.
Nguyen said that her company's foreign trade has flourished over the years due to the vibrant economic collaboration between China and Vietnam. It now ships 15 containers monthly to Vietnam, including daily essentials, hardware, and toys.
"Apart from over 30 Vietnamese clients, we have also forged enduring partnerships with customers in Australia, the Czech Republic, and beyond," she added.
Efficient logistics have created a vital trade link between China and Vietnam. Launched in October 2020, the China-Europe freight train from Yiwu to Hanoi became the first route to Southeast Asia under Zhejiang's China-Europe freight train service.
Road transport has also surged. Xinlian Logistics, operating the Yiwu-Guangxi-Vietnam route, has been seeing a daily average of 50 metric tons of goods bound for Vietnam.
Initially sending one truck every few days, the company now dispatches one to two trucks daily, expanding from small commodities to electromechanical products and fabrics, said Zheng Mingxia, the company's supervisor.
Embracing China's burgeoning short video industry, Nguyen shares her Yiwu business journey on social platforms and now has over 100,000 followers.
Some Vietnamese buyers who have watched her videos have been inspired to explore cooperation opportunities, while Chinese companies consult her about investing in Vietnam. Embracing her role as a cultural and trade bridge, she's proud to help connect the two worlds.
