Chinese Culturepedia debuts online

China Daily officially launched Chinese Culturepedia (culturepedia.chinadaily.com.cn), an English-language knowledge platform dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and enhancing global understanding of China, on Monday.
Guided by the vision of "Decoding Cultural DNA, Connecting World Civilizations", Chinese Culturepedia is a comprehensive, multifunctional online platform dedicated to showcasing the richness of Chinese civilization, enhancing the global reach of Chinese culture, and fostering meaningful cross-cultural dialogue.
The platform enables readers to unlock centuries of culture, explore timeless traditions and join meaningful conversations with just one click.
Built upon China Daily's huge media ecosystem and empowered by big data and artificial intelligence technologies, it taps into more than 40 years of English-language journalism. It draws especially on a rich collection of cultural content — articles, images and videos — to showcase the essence and spirit of Chinese civilization in a dynamic, encyclopedic format.
Various themes are included in the platform, ranging from history, cultural heritage and tourism to literature, arts and lifestyle. Special thematic coverage explores the 24 solar terms, cuisines of China, traditional Chinese opera and other topics. Videos and an interactive chat robot further enrich the platform's horizons.
Chinese Culturepedia integrates knowledge, interactivity and immersive experiences, offering users a range of practical features such as progressive search, AI-powered Q&A, trending words, one-click saving and easy sharing.
It also supports multidevice access, with a responsive design that adapts to various screen sizes for an optimal user experience.
"I followed China's daily news even before coming to China. It played a huge role in shaping my early understanding of the general situation of China," said Mohammad Hashem Mohammadi, an Afghan student at Shanghai University and a social media influencer.
"Now, with the launch of Chinese Culturepedia, I see it as another powerful way of bridging cultural gaps," he said. "As someone who is living in China and connecting with foreigners and local Chinese, having a powerful and trustworthy platform, which is bilingual, to explore Chinese traditions and values is invaluable."
Michael Oduro, who is from Ghana and is studying for a master's degree at Beijing Foreign Studies University, said, "This platform is a treasure trove of Chinese culture, making it easy for anyone to explore (China's) rich traditions.
"The fact that it is in English is a game-changer, allowing people from all over the world to access and appreciate China's cultural essence," he added. "The interactive features and easy access are perfect for us who want to learn more."
Axel Mackintosh, a New Zealand teacher working in Beijing, said, "I'm really impressed with how China Daily's Culturepedia AI search engine opens up a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.
"By helping me explore history, values and traditions more easily, it's not just improving how I find information — it's helping me better relate to people and connect on a more meaningful level," he added.
