Sanxiang township transforms into thriving tourist destination

Sanxiang township in Zhongshan city, Guangdong province, has become a popular tourist destination after three years of efforts to develop its ecological agriculture, green industries, tourism and sightseeing and improve its ecology, environment and infrastructural facilities.
Xian Zhiqian, deputy Party secretary and head of Sanxiang, said the township government has promoted high-standard development at the Zhongshan Semiconductor Industrial Park in recent years. Efforts have focused on accelerating digital and intelligent upgrades for major enterprises while attracting investment in advanced equipment manufacturing, semiconductors, and emerging industries like bio-medicine and health.
Additionally, the township government has spared no effort to optimize livable environments and continuously improve people's sense of happiness under the High-Quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages reforms, which was initiated three years ago, he said.
"This year, the township government will continue to make great efforts to improve the rural highway networks and related infrastructural facilities to help build a beautiful Sanxiang township," Xian said.
In terms of ecological protection, the township government will continue to comprehensively promote the protection of ancient trees, beautiful rivers and lakes and consolidate the positive achievements of the construction of the water conservancy project.
Facilitated by the High-Quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages reforms, Yakou village, under the administration of Sanxiang, has revitalized its resources and improved its environment to develop culture, leisure, tourism and sightseeing in recent years, said Tan Jinkun, Party secretary of the village.
"Now Yakou has contiguous paddy fields, beautiful landscapes, mangroves, seafood streets, restaurants, Internet-famous scenic spots and homestays, making the village a tourist destination," he said.
Integrating the development of culture, agriculture, food, leisure tourism and sightseeing, Yakou is attracting university graduates to return home and start businesses, he added.
According to Tan, Yakou received 5.84 million tourist visits in 2024. The figure reached more than 639,000 during the Chinese New Year period.
