Microblog insights--Oct 25

Topic 1: Two-year-old girl Yue Yue was reported dead on Oct 21 despite receiving treatment from expert doctors over the previous seven days and nights. Yue Yue was ignored and left to die by 18 passers-by after being run over by two vans in Foshan, in South China's Guangdong province. It was a rubbish collector who finally came to help the dying girl. Yue Yue's tragedy has aroused wide public concern nationwide.

M-OK-NOW: I hope Yue Yue will know that still there are many warm-hearted people who are concerned about her except those 18 passers-by whose morality has been distorted.

MEIMEI1116: When the public is condemning the driver and those indifferent 18 passers-by harshly, I'm thinking about where her parents were when the accident happened and why she was there. As the custodians of a two-year-old girl, her parents who failed to perform the duties of protecting her are also the killers of Yue Yue.

QIANBIANDEYOUYU: I'm sorry to hear that. What happened to our society? I hope incidents like this won't happen again around us.

Topic 2: Well-known Chinese director Zhang Yimou's latest work, The Flowers of War's first trailer, was released on Oct 21. The movie is about the Nanjing massacre during the Japanese invasion in the 1930s and features Hollywood movie star Christian Bale. It has been chosen as China's entry for this year's Academy Awards' best foreign language film category. During the near three-minute trailer, there are no Chinese lines, just English and Japanese lines.

LONELY SCORPIO: The scene and cast are both not bad. I'm looking forward to the movie's release.

DENGLIYAO: Waiting for its release. I don't think The Flowers of War has a chance of winning the Academy Awards' best foreign language film, but its performance regarding box office receipts is expected to be very good.

MRHOUANDYEBAILIN: I think the poster and trailer of The Flowers of War make it seem more like a TV series rather than a blockbuster.

I-QIJI: The Flowers of War was better than I expected. After watching the trailer, I thought it was worthwhile going to see it at the cinema.
