Premier: China will do more to facilitate trade with US ( 2003-10-10 16:27) (People.com) China has done a lot to
implement its commitments to the World Trade Organization and will do more and
better to facilitate trade and economic cooperation with the United States,
Premier Wen Jiabao said Thursday in Beijing.
Wen made the remarks while meeting with George Bush, former president of the
United States, saying trade and economic cooperation is the key component and
foundation of Sino-US ties, which have brought about practical benefit to the
two peoples.
The overall situation of Sino-US relations is good, Wen said, noting that
leaders of the two countries have stressed handling bilateral ties from a
long-term perspective and from a strategic point of view.
China and the United States are enjoying increasingly close cooperation on
trade and economic issues, and on major international and regional problems, Wen
added.
The sound development of Sino-US relations caters to the fundamental
interests of the two peoples and is conducive to maintaining world peace,
stability and development, Wen said.
Wen also briefed Bush on China's current economic circumstancesand its policy
on the exchange rates of RMB yuan.
Bush said that the US-China relationship is the most important bilateral tie
for both the United States and China.
He said he was dedicated to the development of US-China ties and will make
more efforts to push forward US-China ties.
