CCTV to telecast documentary on Deng's military life (Xinhua) Updated: 2004-07-29 09:49
The China Central Television will telecast an eight-part series on the
military life of late Chineseleader Deng Xiaoping (1904-1997), marking the 100th
anniversary of his birth.
The broadcast of the documentary is scheduled to begin on August 1, the Army
Day, or the 77th anniversary of the founding ofthe Chinese People's Liberation
Army (PLA).
The series was shot by the TV publicity center of the PLA.
Military experiences and superb commanding manner constitute animportant part
of the life of Deng, who took over a series of top positions in the Communist
Party-led armed forces.
In late 1989, Deng resigned from his last job as the chairman of the Central
Military Commission.
