Eighteen suspects involved in a fighting in Zhengzhou, capital of central
China's Henan Province, have been detained, said the local government Monday.
The unrest began on Oct. 27 and is now under control, said the information
office of the municipal government of Zhengzhou.
Seven people were killed and 42 were injured in the fighting, the source
said. All the injured were sent to hospital; 19 have been released.
The incident began with a villager surnamed Lu from Nanren, a village in
Zhongmou County, fighting over a traffic dispute with a man surnamed Liu from
another village Nanwei.
Lu and several Nanren villagers rushed to Liu's home after the fight on
the road and assaulted Liu and his family.
Afterward, residents of both villages assembled with weapons. One
villager was beaten to death on the spot and two died in the hospital one day
later.
The unrest continued until Sunday, the source said.
