Top legislature expels five deputies (Xinhua) Updated: 2004-12-29 17:21
The 13th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's
Congress (NPC) issued a bulletin on Wednesday announcing that five NPC deputies
have been expelled from the legislature.
The five people are Zhang Junyuan, former director of the Communications
Department of the Jiangsu provincial government; Wu Zhenhan, former president of
Hunan Higher People's Court; Xu Yandong, former president of Heilongjiang Higher
People's Court; Xu Fa, procurator of Heilongjiang Provincial People's
Procuratorate; and Liu Guangzhi, president of Air Force Command College.
The bulletin said Zhang Junyuan and Wu Zhenhan have been abolished their
qualification as NPC deputies by their provincial people's congresses due to
corruption.
The bulletin also said Xu Yandong and Xu Fa had been removed from their posts
due to severe economic crimes and their requests to resign as NPC deputies had
been accepted by their provincial people's congress.
Liu Guangzhi had been removed from the presidency of the Air Force Command
College due to severe economic crimes and his request to resign as NPC deputy
had been approved by the people's congress of the air force, according to the
bulletin.
