The 38-year-old has a six month contract with English Championship
promotion-chasers Reading, who he joined after leaving Bolton last week, and
told the BBC that he would honour his promise this time round.
"I will call it a day at the end of the season. I said that last season, but
I mean it this time," said Ferdinand, who enjoyed successful stints at QPR,
Spurs and Newcastle.
"Reading are well-placed for promotion and I'd like to help them get there.
It would be a nice way to end my career," added Ferdinand, who scored 210 goals
in his 18 year career including five for England.
