同事一伙人開車去吃午飯，男士們開一輛車，女士們坐另一輛車跟在后面。后面車?yán)锏呐俗匀蛔h論到前車上的男人們，說(shuō)它們喜歡打球，喜歡吃 Pizza，凱瑟琳說(shuō)了一句“One of them is rocking the cradle.”車上的人聽(tīng)后大笑起來(lái)。我沒(méi)有理解她的意思，于是問(wèn)她們說(shuō)：“could you explain for me？”這下她們更樂(lè)了，不過(guò)還是向我解釋了這句話的意思。
原來(lái)“rocking the cradle”的本意是指搖動(dòng)搖籃，引伸為指兩個(gè)年齡相差很大的人在一起，這就和俚語(yǔ)中的另一個(gè)詞語(yǔ)“May-December”很接近。也就是說(shuō)她們認(rèn)為，前面車?yán)锏囊晃荒惺亢退呐椋谀挲g上相差很懸殊。
