An international symposium titled "G20 and China" was held at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China in Beijing on July 28.

The university also hosted a book launch at the event announcing the publication of books on G20. Nearly a hundred people ranging from representatives of well-known publishing houses, leaders of Renmin University of China, former Chinese G20 affairs coordinator, to media and others gathered together to share the moments of G20 countdown to this year's summit.

With 38 days left to this year's G20 Summit in Hangzhou, people from all walks of life want to learn more about G20. So the timing was perfect to organize such a seminar that helps enlighten the public, said Guo Qingwang, dean of the School of Finance and executive director and president of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China, who presided over the seminar and delivered a keynote speech.

Wang Liming, executive vice-president of Renmin University of China, said that the 2016 G20 Summit is the first leading global economic governance ever held in China, and it is a sign of global economic governance stepping into a new stage of sustainable development.

"In the era of opportunities and challenges, China has the ability and confidence in offering a more comprehensive and balanced 'China plan' for global governance. By actively participating in the formulation of new international rules, China is willing, along with the international society, to make contributions in achieving a healthy and sustainable development," said Wang.

He Yafei, former vice-minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Chinese G20 coordinator, said that the G20, once a ministerial-level consultation mechanism, has been upgraded to the summit, in which China has played a very important role. "A new global governance featuring 'mutual consultation, efforts and sharing' and 'innovation, coordination, green, open, sharing' will serve as reference in promoting world economic growth and reforming the global governance. We look forward to the success of the G20 Summit in Hangzhou," said He.

Qiao Weibing, representative of CITIC publishing house, and Zhang Hai'ou, editor in chief of New World Press, said the symposium saw the publications of the record series on G20 research from Chinese think tank, which marks the leading trend of Chinese think tank on the global G20 research.

Following the keynote speech,Wang Wen,executive dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY), held a discussion with seven guests on "G20 and Chinese contribution". John Ross, former director of the Department of Economic and Business Policy of London, Sergey Drobyshevskiy, academic director of the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy, Manuel Montes, senior advisor on Finance and Development at South Center in Switzerland, and Wei Benhua, former Director at State Administration of Foreign Exchange, were among the panelists.
