Death penalty passed on to 2 men murdering Taiwanese compatriots

Two transients who murdered a family of three from Taiwan province in late
June have been sentenced to death for being found guilty of robbery in Shanghai
on Tuesday.
The verdicts were handed down by the No. 1 Intermediate People' s Court of
Shanghai Municipality in a first-instant trial held Tuesday.
The court heard that Huang Ligang, 22, a male native of Sheyang, in northern
Jiangsu province, and Cheng Liang, a young male native of Suining, also in
northern Jiangsu, carried daggers and other tools for robbery and sneaked into a
residence of living quarters in Hongqiao Town, Minhang District, in wee hours on
June 23, murdering Song Yu, a compatriot of Taiwan from Taiwan doing business in
Shanghai, along with his wife and daughter.
After the killing, the two man slaughter suspects also ransacked the
residence and escaped with the owners' properties valued at over 80,000 yuan
(about 9,640 US dollars), including a jeep, a laptop and some Renminbi (RMB) and
foreign currencies.
Huang and Cheng soon left Shanghai in the looted jeep and finally abandoned
the vehicle in Yangcheng city in northern Jiangsu.
The court verdicts say that Huang and Cheng, with an evil objective for
illegal possession, resorted to violence for robbery, so they must be held
responsible for the deaths of the family of three from Taiwan.
Meanwhile, both Huang and Cheng were deprived of their political rights and
their personal properties confiscated according to Tuesday's court
verdicts.
