Hamilton strains Neck Vs. Hornets ( 2003-11-24 09:39) (Agencies)
Richard Hamilton of the Detroit Pistons left Sunday night's game against the
New Orleans Hornets because of a strained neck.
Hamilton was injured in the last minute of the first half when he was fouled
by Baron Davis while making a layup. He landed awkwardly and stayed down for
several minutes, but remained in the game and made the free throw.
After the shot, he grimaced and grabbed at his left shoulder before playing
the final 50 seconds of the half. He then was taken to a hospital for
precautionary x-rays.
Detroit was already short two players. Starting center Elden Campbell left
the team just before the game because of a family illness, and Lindsey Hunter
strained his left knee earlier in the second quarter.
