Iraqi suicide bomber kills six, wounds 17

infrastructure. [AFP] | A suicide car bomb exploded outside the house of a
local official north of Baghdad on Monday, killing six people and wounding 17,
police sources said.
They said deputy governor for Diala province Akil Hamed was among the wounded
when the bomber detonated explosives in his red car at the entrance to the
official's house in the village of Balad Ruz.
Hamed and his bodyguards were leaving the house when the bomber struck. The
official was rushed to a U.S. military hospital. His condition was not
immediately known.
The other casualties, who included bodyguards, police and members of Hamed's
family, were taken to a local hospital.
Insurgents have killed scores of local officials who had been appointed by
U.S. forces since the fall of Saddam Hussein last year.
