Pu'er is the coffee production zone with the biggest planting area and the greatest output in China. It is also a major distributing center of coffee trade. Its cultivation history of more than 100 years, low latitude, and medium altitude all contribute to the high quality of its coffee, which is deemed a first class product by the International Coffee Organization (ICO). World-class coffee experts once gave Pu'er Arabica coffee a comprehensive score of 88.75, higher than 85.88 - the score given to Colombian coffee (which had always been the winner until then).
